Kind Mind Center

The Therapists

Kind Mind Counseling Center est. 2012.
The name came from a Tibetan Monk who referred to our "compassionate heart" with the words: "Use Your Kind Mind." When asked, he explained that when we are living authentically, there is no disconnection between the mind and heart - "they are the same." With his thick Tibetan accent, he felt it was easier to understand his annunciation if he instead used Kind Mind when teaching about Loving Kindness.

The green leaf as the logo, is of the Bodhi Tree, which grows in India. In the Kind Mind lobby, you will find an actual leaf brought back from the region, where the Buddha sat under the Bodhi Tree and attained enlightenment.

Each of us are on a quest for enlightenment into our own suffering, and alleviation of emotional pain. Here at Kind Mind, we work from our compassionate heart aka kind mind, to assist you in finding enlightenment of mind, body, and spirit.

ALICIA ISOM, LGSW - TELEHEALTH & In-person: Currently Accepting New Clients. I am a Licensed Graduate Social Worker through the Minnesota Board of Social Work. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology at St. Cloud State University. After working in the field for a few years, I decided to obtain my Master’s in Social Work. My past work has included, working with children with autism, relational trauma, youth and adults with sexual abuse histories, county social work and medical social work.

In my work I use a client-centered and body-centered approach by prioritizing relationship and connection. I am particularly interested in the mind/body connection and somatic-experiencing.  Additionally, I believe fostering hope through predictable, empathetic care is an integral piece of healing past trauma. I work with couples, individuals, and young adults to decrease stress responses and to increase positive relational interactions in their daily lives.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my small family. I enjoy being outside in nature, running, yoga, and mountain biking. I also love to macramé, craft, and cook new meals.
I look forward to working with you.

Yeti  Jotter  -  Therapy Dog (in Training)
I am a chocolate Labradoodle. I have had an adventurous 4 year life so far.  I arrived in Minnesota from Kentucky on motorcycle with my person: Marmie at 6 weeks of age.  I have participated in a week long vision quest, surviving on my own merit, and I now love to look at the stars on cool wintery nights.  I have completed Socialization and Level 1 training, and continue to work with Marmie and clients on a regular basis, as I continue my studies.  I love people, places, and mostly to carry around things in my mouth.  I give a great Yeti call when I'm excited to see people, and I'm looking forward to working with you in the future.
Trainings: IRKC (Iron Range Kennel Club) Puppy Socialization, and Level 1 - Best in class!
